He completed his MBBS from Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, followed by his Master of Surgery in General Surgery from King George's Medical College, Lucknow. His postgraduate research on the diagnostic value of Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in breast tissue received the Dr. R. K. Garg Best Thesis Award from the Association of Surgeons of India (U.P. Chapter) in 2003.

Dr. Srivastava is the former Head of the Department of General Surgery at Yatharth Super Speciality Hospital, Jhansi, and has been associated with King George's Medical College, Lucknow, and Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi. He has performed more than 20,000 surgical procedures.

His expertise includes laparoscopic surgery, laser surgery for anorectal disorders, general surgery, urological procedures, endoscopic surgery, and complex abdominal and gastrointestinal conditions.
